Antique South Adriatic Terracotta Water Vessel

An antique terracotta large water jug, rich decorations in dark brown and red with wave lines, chevrons, meanders, zig-zag patterns and threads. Partly glazed because of the porous nature of the vessels the liquid inside stays cold. Most commonly used to store water, but used as well to store vine or grappa. Attributed to the 12th century.
