Old Moroccan Jobbana Butter Pot

Blue and white, with touches of yellow, Jobbana pot from, Fès, Morocco. Believed to be 18th century. Features an intricately hand-painted Moorish pattern in a traditional Andalusian color combination. No maker's mark.

Originally, these lidded containers were used to curdle milk. They were also used to preserve butter or harira, the soup with which one broke the fast, during the month of Ramadan.

A few small chips on lid and some crazing due to age and use of piece. Overall excellent condition.
