Deskovic was born in 1883, in Croatia. He began his education as a sculptor at the beginning of the 20th century, studying at the Academy of Arts in Venice, under Antonio Dal Zotto. From Venice, Branislav went to Paris, where he met Auguste Rodin. Deškovic is regarded as the first Impressionist Croatian sculptor and is well known for his expressive animal sculptures (mainly horses and dogs). Branislav died in 1939, in Croatia.
